One of the most significant benefits of a raw diet is improved digestion and stool.
Eating raw food and raw meaty bones takes time and effort which gives time for the gut to activate its gastric juices. This assists in proper digestion. A lot of commercial foods are over-processed or exposed to very high temperatures which destroy the nutrient profile of the food. Some are too finely ground which encourages rapid consumption and results in poor digestion or vomiting.
You will also notice that difference in the consistency, volume and odour of your pet’s stool. The stool will be more firm and in time will become crumbly, making cleanup no longer an unpleasant task! There is considerably less waste resulting from a raw diet because the body absorbs more nutrients and digests more food. The best part is that stool becomes less smelly and take a much shorter time to decompose, since there won’t be any carbohydrate-based ingredients such as corn, soy and grains!
The task of tearing, crushing and gnawing at meaty bones requires both physical labour as they use their neck and jaw muscles but also mental labour because your pet will have to figure out how to tackle those large pieces of bone! As a bonus, they are less likely to destroy any furniture or shoes due to lack of engagement!
As a consequence of switching your pet to a fully nutritious and delicious diet, they will have more energy and drive.
Most pet allergies originate from poor diets and can cause digestion issues, skin issues, ear infections, eye infections and so on. When grains, preservatives and even cooked proteins are eliminated, you will notice many allergies clearing up and eventually disappearing!
Your pet will lose excess fat and gain muscle definition. Feeding raw meat and bones leads to improved digestion, increases your pet’s metabolism and its activity levels.
You will notice little to no breath odor and there will no longer be any tartar build-up on your pet’s teeth! You won’t even the need to visit your vet for dental work or brush your pet’s teeth! The raw diet will prevent gingivitis, inflammation and periodontal disease which in turn have been linked to heart disease.
Remember, dogs sharp teeth are designed to slice, tear and crunch through whole foods, raw carcasses and meaty bones. These act as natural toothbrushes by removing any tartar and plaque from the teeth.
You can say goodbye to dry, flaky skin and dull coats!
One of the first things you will notice is that many skin conditions will improve or disappear leading to a healthier, thicker, softer and shinier coat. No need to use medicated washes, antibiotics or cortisone for itchy skin due to commercial diets! As a bonus, your pet’s coat will also have reduced odour.
A complete and balanced raw diet is no doubt the most nutritious option. Raw meat and bone contain protein, iron, vitamins, minerals and essential fatty acids. A healthy diet, supplemented by exercise leads to better digestion, a stronger immune system and overall better health.
Switching older pets to a raw diet is also said to improve degenerative disease and arthritis
We haven’t been to the vet for any dietary healthy issues ever since we have been feeding raw!
